Export Marketing and Development Grant (EMDG)

The EMDG program provides matched funding to eligible Australian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to market and promote their goods and services internationally. Administered by Austrade, the program now operates as an upfront grant agreement — giving exporters funding certainty before they begin their activities.

Current status: Round 4 is closed to applications. Funding of up to $104.5 million will be available for 2025–26. Grant tiers range from $20,000–$80,000 per year depending on your export stage.

European Union Research & Development Grant

The European Union offers research and innovation funding through Horizon Europe (2021–2027), the EU's largest ever R&D program with a budget of approximately €95.5 billion. Australian entities may be eligible to participate as partners in certain Horizon Europe calls, following Australia's association agreement with the program.

Boosting Female Founders Initiative

Female founders of startup businesses can receive grants between $25,000 and $480,000 to launch and scale their businesses into domestic and global markets. The program provides co-contribution funding (up to 50%, or up to 70% for eligible businesses) to help women entrepreneurs grow their startups.

Current status: Round 2 is closed. Further rounds are expected. Register your interest to be notified when applications reopen.

Accelerating Commercialisation Grant

The Accelerating Commercialisation program provided expert guidance and matched grant funding to help businesses get novel products, processes and services to market. This program is now closed — new applications closed on 9 May 2023.
